One Night Singer/Sunny Queensland/Bail Up/Wayfaring Stranger
Not to much on this band out there in the Ether if you have ant info let me know. More than likely a Quensland band whose members were Julie Zerner Keyboards Vocals,Kenn Zerner Bass,Acoustic Guitar, Greg Adams-Drums, Peter Jones-Mandolin,Vocals,Tin Whistle and Bass, Gary Mears Vocals,Acoustic and Electric Guitar and Banjo. Kenn Zerner is my father and Julie Zerner is my Stepmother...this album was released for there concerts that they played at the 1988 Brisbane Expo.
ReplyDeleteKenn Zerner is my father and Julie Zerner is my Step mother...as far as i can remember this album was released in 1988 for there live concerts at the 88 Brisbane Expo..they gain a notable fan base in brusbane and Toowoomba until the band split. I have two signed coppies of this album.amazing that i found it here...thank you
ReplyDeleteHi Kenn Zerner here the EP was actually released for the bicentennial in 88 we used to play the Woolshed at Ferny Grove most weekends and did the Tall Ships with the ABC and Molly Meldrum
ReplyDeleteThe band was formed in Toowoomba Qld in the 70s by John and Sandy Whybird I joined them playing electric bass which was almost unheard in a folk band
We used to do bush dances all over southern Qld
John and Sandy transferred to Chinchilla in the 80s and rather then let the band stop I found Greg who I had played with in Rock bands when we were just out of school, Pete Jones who was with another band, my beautiful wife Julie who had not really played in a band and Gary Mears to form up this version of MW
Jule and I still play in fact I am playing in a band called Cactoblastis with John and Sandy
Gary plays up the Nth Coast in a couple of bands and Greg still hits the skins a bit with a local rock band
Not sure re Pete he is living in Brisbane last I heard
MW split in the mid 90s as people were moving away
Other members that were in early versions were Barbie Goltz, Sue Worthington, Marg Caley and john Zeller amazing to see this on here thank you
